The decision of the Section Secretary is final.
Trophies remain the property of Honley Show Society. They must be returned on, or before, the day of the Show. Please return in a good, clean condition.
The South West Yorkshire Shire Foal 8 Star Accumulator.
Honley Show is once again participating in this Accumulator. Points will be awarded for Shire Foal classes at the following 8 local shows:- Arthington, Emley, Harthill Carnival, Honley, Woolley, Halifax, Keighley and the South West Yorkshire Shire Horse Hiring Society in association with Penistone Show.
The points can be accumulated randomly at any 6 of the eight participating Shows
This competition is open to everyone; membership of any of the Show Societies is not required.
The foal with the most points at the end of the 8 shows will receive £200 and named the South West Yorkshire Champion Foal. The prize money for the Champion has been kindly donated by Haigh’s Farm Shop, Mirfield.
The Reserve Champion Foal will receive £100 kindly donated by Messrs Richard and Robert Bedford of Hartcliff Shires.
The Presentation of the Shire Foal 8 Star Accumulator will take place at Penistone Agricultural Show.

NOTE: ALL EXHIBITORS IN HORSE CLASSES MUST HAVE PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE.
Riding Hats to current standards must be worn when mounted anywhere on the Showground.

Important information re. EQUINE INFLUENZA
Horses must have been vaccinated to comply with the requirements of the primary course (1st vaccination & then 2nd vaccination between 21 – 92 days later) followed by the first booster (150 -215days) and then all subsequent boosters. Horses may compete having received the primary course and prior to the first booster but not within 7 days of receiving a vaccine dose.

Horses must have been vaccinated within 6 months before the Show but not less than 7 days of arriving at the Show.
Foals
In-foal mares  that have already had vaccinations of primary course Equine Influenza should be vaccinated 4-6 weeks before the foal is due to be born.
Foals should be vaccinated for Equine influenza at 6 moths to commence their primary course.

All owners are urged to adhere to strict biosecurity protocols at all times.
Vaccinations are subject to local risk assessments by the attending veterinarians.

Monitoring of Compliance
PLEASE NOTE THAT NEITHER VACCINATION CERTIFICATES NOR PASSPORTS SHOULD BE SENT TO THE SHOW PRIOR TO THE EVENT. HOWEVER RANDOM CHECKS WILL BE CARRIED OUT ON THE SHOWGROUND DURING THE SHOW.

The above trophies to be competed for annually and held for one year by the winner.

Judging: To commence in Ring 1 from approx. 2pm.

Class 1 – Barren Mare or Gelding – 3 years old and over
Class 2 – Colt, Gelding or Filly born 2018 (Yearling)
Class 3 – Gelding or Filly born 2017 (2 years old)
Class 4 – Brood Mare with Foal at foot
Class 5 – Foal Born 2019
SouthWest Yorkshire Shire Foal 6 Star Accumulator Points to be awarded as follows :
1st – 5pts, 2nd – 4pts, 3rd – 3pts, 4th- 2pts, 5th – 1pt
Class 6 – Young Handlers: Age 12-18 years. Winner qualifies for Young Handler of the Year 2018 at the Midland Shire Foal Society Show.
Class 7 – Ridden Shire Horse or Shire Cross judged in line with Shire Horse Society Criteria.
Class 8 – Any other recognized heavy horse breed (in-hand)
