The decision of the Section Secretary is final.
Trophies remain the property of Honley Show Society. They must be returned on, or before, the day of the Show. Please return in a good, clean condition.
Riding hats to the current safety standards must be worn when mounted anywhere on the Showground.
NOTE: ALL EXHIBITORS IN HORSE CLASSES MUST HAVE PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE.

The South West Yorkshire Shire Horse Hiring Society Foal 5 Star Accumulator.
Open to Pure Bred Shire Horse Foals born in 2022

Honley Show is once again participating in this Accumulator. Points will be awarded for Shire Foal classes at the following shows:- Emley, Harthill Carnival, Honley, Halifax, and the South West Yorkshire Shire Horse Hiring Society in association with Penistone Show.
Points will be awarded according to the placings of the Foal classes. Classes may be split into filly and colt at the discretion of each participating Show

This competition is open to everyone; membership of any of the Show Societies is not required.
The Champion Foal from the Accumulator will receive £200 kindly donated by the SWYSHHS.
The Reserve Champion Foal will receive £100 kindly donated by Messrs Richard and Robert Bedford of Hartcliff Shires.
The Presentation of the Shire Foal 5 Star Accumulator will take place at Penistone Agricultural Show.

Important information re. EQUINE INFLUENZA
Horses must have been vaccinated to comply with the requirements of the primary course (1st vaccination & then 2nd vaccination between 21 – 92 days later) followed by the first booster (150 -215days) and then all subsequent boosters. Horses may compete having received the primary course and prior to the first booster but not within 7 days of receiving a vaccine dose.

Horses must have been vaccinated within 6 months before the Show but not less than 7 days of arriving at the Show.
Foals
In-foal mares that have already had vaccinations of primary course Equine Influenza should be vaccinated 4-6 weeks before the foal is due to be born.
Foals should be vaccinated for Equine influenza at 6 months to commence their primary course.

All owners are urged to adhere to strict biosecurity protocols at all times.
Vaccinations are subject to local risk assessments by the attending veterinarians.

Monitoring of Compliance
PLEASE NOTE THAT NEITHER VACCINATION CERTIFICATES NOR PASSPORTS SHOULD BE SENT TO THE SHOW PRIOR TO THE EVENT. HOWEVER RANDOM CHECKS WILL BE CARRIED OUT ON THE SHOWGROUND DURING THE SHOW.

Entry Fee: £6.00 all classes.
Postal Entries Close: 18th July 2022 to allow for return of passes and numbers.
(Late entries taken on Day of Show at the Horse Tent up to 12.00 am)

Exhibitor Passes: 1 per Horse and 2 per Exhibitor.
To purchase additional tickets at the reduced fee please complete the relevant section of the entry form.

Prize Money: (Classes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8) 1st – £40, 2nd – £30, 3rd – £20, 4th – £15
Class 6: 1st – £30, 2nd – £20, 3rd – £15, 4th – £10
Champion Shire in Show – £100. Reserve Champion – £50

The Dudley Parker Silver Challenge Trophy for the Best brood Mare in Show
The Anson Franklin Memorial Trophy for the Best Young Handler
The Tom Lodge Memorial Cup for the Best Foal in Show. Kindly donated by the Lodge Family
The Tom Moorhouse & Son Trophy for the Best Ridden Shire
The above trophies to be competed for annually and held for one year by the winner.

Horse Section Plan

Shire Horse Classes

Judge: Mr J Whittaker, Knutsford, Cheshire

Judging: To commence in Ring 5 not before 2pm.

Class 1 – Barren Mare or Gelding – 3 years old and over
Class 2 – Colt, Gelding or Filly born 2021 (Yearling)
Class 3 – Gelding or Filly born 2020 (2 years old)
Class 4 – Brood Mare with Foal at foot
Class 5 – Foal Born 2022
Class 6 – Young Handlers: Age 12-18 years. Winner qualifies for Young Handler of the Year 2018 at the Midland Shire Foal Society Show.
Class 7 – Ridden Heavy Horse or Cross(Shire or Clydesdale). Shire and Shire cross to be judged in line with SHS Criteria.
Class 8 – Any other recognized heavy horse breed (in-hand)
